The Declaration of Istanbul Custodian Group (DICG) was established in 2010 to promote the principles of the Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism, and to encourage and assist in their implementation in policy and practice throughout the world. In this paper, I review the work undertaken by the DICG and discuss the important and multifaceted role that health professionals must play in efforts to combat organ trafficking.
